MT2 (Melanotan II)
Description
A synthetic peptide analog of the alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). MT2 is one of the most extensively studied peptides in dermatological and endocrinological research, with a robust body of clinical literature supporting its biological activity profile.
Mechanism of Action
Stimulates melanogenesis to darken skin pigmentation without extensive UV exposure. MT2 binds to melanocortin receptors (MC1R through MC5R), triggering a cascade that increases eumelanin production in melanocytes. Secondary research has also documented effects on libido through MC4R activation and appetite modulation.
Research Protocols
Typically administered at 250mcg to 500mcg per day for an initial loading phase of 7–14 days, followed by a maintenance dose of 500mcg once or twice a week. Reconstitute lyophilized powder with bacteriostatic water. Store reconstituted solution at 2–8°C.
